A man who was knifed multiple times in an attack outside a Tesco store in Swindon was found to have cocaine and heroin in his possession.
Femi Dadey, 18, was stabbed in the leg, arm and abdomen in Toothill Village Centre at around 1pm in the afternoon on 8 October last year.
Paramedics cut him free of his clothing so they could treat his knife wounds and handed it over to police officers for forensic analysis.
When officers checked the zipped pocket of his jacket, they discovered nine drug wraps – seven containing crack cocaine and the other two containing heroin.
Appearing at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (25 August), Dadey, of Bath Road, pleaded guilty to possession of 0.347 grams of cocaine and 0.214 grams of heroin.
Prosector Pauline Lambert said the defendant is currently serving a youth rehabilitation order he received in 2020 for the supply of class A drugs and possession of a bladed article.
Dadey’s defence solicitor said he wants to “wants to progress his life away from crime” and has been volunteering with children as a sports coach.
Probation officer Michelle James told the court that Dadey has experienced “a lot of discrimination and trauma” in his childhood.
Magistrates revoked the youth rehabilitation order and sentenced him to a community order in which he must complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
He must also complete a thinking skills programme and 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days with the probation service. Dadey was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £95.
