Floral tributes have been left on a railway bridge between Bristol and Bath following the death of a teenage girl who was struck by a Great Western Railway train last week.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, emergency services raced to the scene in the Pixash Lane area of Keynsham, near Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park on Bank Holiday Monday 31 August.

Flowers and moving written tributes line the roadside in Pixash Lane, with people paying their respects to the popular secondary school pupil who remains unnamed.

Trains travelling between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington – including Chippenham and Swindon – were cancelled following the incident but services resumed within three hours.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called at 1.26 pm on 31/08 to Keynsham station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended, but sadly a teenage girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
