The owner of The Bank in Swindon’s Old Town says there will be no free drinks for ladies despite a banner advertising it being flown over the town this afternoon.

The aircraft was seen in the skies above Swindon from around 1pm today, carrying the message “LADIES ONLY FREE DRINKS AT THE BANK TODAY” behind it.

Manni Madhani has since said that he is not to blame for the commissioning of the stunt and labelled it ‘irresponsible’ during the coronavirus pandemic.

Wiltshire Police are understood to have approached the venue regarding the matter.

A statement released on social media, The Bank wrote: “Please note a plane carrying our name has been commissioned irresponsibly. The bank has no knowledge of this stunt.

“This has nothing to do with the bank and we do not accept or condone this breach of regulations. It’s not in line with the COVID -19 or licensing and we have worked hard to comply with all local authorities.

“Please do not turn up and there are no free drinks. Also, we have a strict booking policy in place.

“There also was a post that we also have no knowledge of and that was also reported to Facebook.”
