A 21-year-old drink driver has been arrested by police after he visited the McDonald’s ‘drive thru’ in Chippenham in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Staff from the popular fast food restaurant tipped Wiltshire Police off, at 5.30am on 21 May, after they noticed that he ‘smelled of alcohol’ and was ‘acting suspiciously’.

Rushing to the scene, police officers arrived swiftly and arrested Jacob Bardi from Station Road, Clutton, in Somerset, and he was taken to custody. He was later charged.

Sgt Louis McCoy tweeted: “A drink driver has just gone through the McDonald’s drive through and is now on route to Custody. Great spot by the staff! ‘I’m loving it'”.

Bardi is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates on 7 June 2017.
