A primary school in Wiltshire has sent home four classes of children less than three days after reopening following a coronavirus scare.

The child was sent home from Old Sarum Primary School, in Old Sarum, Salisbury, after staff there noticed she had an ‘occasional cough’ this afternoon.

Due to the child having a sibling and a parent working at the school, a total of four classes had to be dismissed and will not be able to return until coronavirus tests are sought and show as negative.

A spokesperson for the primary said: “This afternoon a child was sent home when she began to have an occasional cough. I want to err on the side of caution and keep every child safe in the school, so I have followed our plan and sent home four of our ‘bubble’ classes.

“I have sent four ‘bubble’ classes home because the child has a sibling and parent working at the school. One more parent works in one of our ‘bubble’ classes and has a child in the fourth ‘bubble’ class. Fortunately, ‘bubble’ classes do not mix, so the other ‘bubble’ classes can continue to come into school.”
