Two men have been charged with assaulting emergency workers in separate custody incidents.

Osman Barry, aged 25, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of assaulting an emergency worker, following an incident in custody at Melksham Police Station on April 2.

He appeared virtually at Swindon Magistrates Court on Saturday, and pleaded not guilty. He has been released on bail and his next court date has not yet been confirmed.

In a separate incident, a man has been charged after a detention officer was spat at in Melksham custody at the weekend.

Peter Cooper, 36, of Westleigh, Warminster, has been charged with assault of an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning.
