Police have seized several illegal e-scooters during an operation targeting dangerous riding in Swindon.
Officers from the North Swindon Neighbourhood Team carried out the operation on Tuesday 13 October, focusing on illegal e-scooters and modified e-bikes.
Several e-scooters were stopped and seized during the crackdown, with police confirming that the vehicles will be destroyed.
One of the e-scooters was capable of travelling at more than 30mph and had been ridden on footpaths used by pedestrians.
Police said this posed a significant danger to members of the public, particularly those walking in areas shared with the high-powered vehicles.
Officers also witnessed riders using e-scooters without helmets, increasing the risk of serious injuries in the event of a collision or fall.
Wiltshire Police warned that illegally used e-scooters, particularly those travelling at high speeds, pose a danger to both riders and pedestrians.
The North Swindon Neighbourhood Team has confirmed that further enforcement operations will take place to tackle the unlawful use of e-scooters and modified e-bikes.
Vehicles found being used illegally could be seized and destroyed.
Anyone concerned about the illegal use of e-scooters or modified e-bikes can report incidents through the Wiltshire Police website or by calling 101.
