A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a crash with a van on the A350.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision on the busy road at Lacock, near Chippenham, at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday).
The incident involved a large van and pedestrian, who sustained serious injuries.
Great Western Air Ambulance was scrambled, with critical care medics providing urgent treatment.
The casualty has since been rushed to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance, assisted by air ambulance medics.
The road is likely to remain closed for several hours while the patient’s injuries are assessed and a decision is made about whether or not a forensic investigation is required.
The closure has resulted in traffic chaos in Lacock, with lorries and other large vehicles blocking the village for periods as they attempt to divert.
Wiltshire Police, South Western Ambulance Service and Great Western Air Ambulance have been approached for a statement.
