A man found dead inside a van outside a shop in Swindon has been named by his family.
Fran Whirity, 57, was discovered in a white van near Tesco Express in The Circle, Pinehurst, at around 5.30pm on Monday (21 September).
His heartbroken sister, Angela Matthews, has now paid tribute to her brother and thanked Wiltshire Police for its response.
She said: “I am heartbroken to announce the death of my beloved brother Fran Whirity deeply loved and missed by Myself, Marc and all off your nephews, nieces and great niece xxxx”
Police officers and detectives carried out enquiries at the scene before confirming that Mr Whirity’s death was being treated as non-suspicious.
Angela said her brother had been working locally at the time of his death and praised officers for their response in a post on the Wiltshire 999s Facebook page.
She said: “As the sister of the deceased I would like to thank everyone for your kind comments and also Wiltshire Police for there swift actions and support in coming to the aid of my brother who was working locally in the area xx”
The area remained guarded by police until around 8.30pm, when a private ambulance attended to remove Mr Whirity’s body.
Angela has also thanked people for the messages of support the family has received following his death.
She added: “Just want to say Thank you to each and everyone one of you for all of your kind comments and support it truly does mean a lot to all of us as a family, At the moment I am struggling to get my head around this just feel numb at the moment but once again thank you all xxxx”
Wiltshire Police previously confirmed that Mr Whirity’s next of kin had been informed.
A spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
