A burnt-out car has been discovered in woodland near Warminster.
Pictures from the scene show the severely fire-damaged wreckage of a small car in Canimore Woods – behind the A36 bypass.
A local resident came across the vehicle while walking their dog this morning, Sunday 6 September.
They said: “Bit of an unusual find on this morning’s dog walk!
“Came across this completely burnt-out car in the woods this morning.
“It looks like a small 3-door hatchback — possibly something like a Nissan Micra or similar — but it’s obviously far too badly damaged for me to identify it with any certainty.
“I’ve reported it to the police and I’m currently waiting for them to ring me back so that I can give them the exact location and everything I know.”
Another resident said they believed the vehicle had been abandoned and set alight overnight.
They said: “Not sure if a car has been reported stolen in the Warminster area.
“A white car possibly Vauxhall Corsa has been abandoned and set alight in canimore woods behind the A36 bypass overnight”
It is not currently known how the vehicle came to be in the woodland, whether it was stolen or when exactly the fire happened.
Wiltshire Police has been made aware of the discovery.
