A man has died after collapsing in a Chippenham street amid the heatwave.
Emergency services were called to reports of a casualty in cardiac arrest in Woodlands Road shortly before 3pm on Sunday (24 May).
Members of the public started CPR while awaiting the arrival of ambulance crews – as temperatures soared to 28 degrees celsius.
Despite the best efforts of those involved, the man – aged in his 60s – was pronounced dead.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that officers attended a “medical incident”, and said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
“Our thoughts are with his family and friends”, a force spokesperson said.
