A woman has died after 999 crews were called to an explosion in Chippenham.
Emergency services responded to reports of the serious incident unfolding in Orchard Crescent at around 3.15pm this afternoon (Thursday).
An explosion at a house left a woman, aged in her 40s, with significant injuries.
She was pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of paramedics. Her next of kin has been informed and attended the scene.
The street remains cordoned off while investigations take place, with forensics examining the explosion site.
At the height of the incident, there were eight police vehicles, two fire engines, four fire cars, an ambulance and an ambulance rapid response vehicle in attendance.

In a new statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We can confirm that a woman has sadly died following an incident at an address in Chippenham this afternoon. (5/3)
“Along with the fire service and ambulance colleagues, we attended an address in Orchard Crescent at approximately 3.20pm today following a report of an explosion.
“Sadly, a woman in her 40s died at the scene.
“The woman’s next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with her family at this time.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
