A dangerous dog has been put down after its ‘scared’ owner call 999 for help.
Police in Swindon responded to reports of the pet being out of control in Ventnor Close, Moredon, at around 6.45pm on Tuesday evening (24 February).
The 999 call was made by the owner of a suspected Pitbull-type crossbreed, which was behaving dangerously and causing them to fear for their safety.
Officers cordoned off the residential street as they worked to locate and seize the dog.
Following its capture, it was taken to a vet for assessment – and subsequently put to sleep.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that they “received a report from a resident of their dog being dangerously out of control”.
A spokesperson said that officers “attended the scene and the dog was located and seized”.
Adding: “The dog was taken to the vets and subsequently put to sleep.”
One local resident told Wiltshire 999s that police ‘sealed the street off with blue lights everywhere’ and officers were ‘stopping people going in the street’.
