UPDATE: Home on A420 completely destroyed in dramatic early morning fire
The A420 is closed as firefighters battle house a fire near Chippenham.
Emergency services were called to the busy route in North Wraxall early this morning (Saturday).
A residential property was well ablaze, with crews from Chippenham, Corsham, Swindon, Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon and Royal Wootton Bassett on scene.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware of road closures in place following a fire at a residential property in North Wraxall, Chippenham.
“The incident is currently being attended to by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service colleagues.
“Drivers should seek alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.”
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the A420 is closed due to the house fire, and asks people to avoid the area.
