A Wiltshire Search and Rescue volunteer has been recognised in the King’s Honours List for his contribution to public services.
Former paramedic Ian Todd has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for Public Service.
He has has held a number of senior leadership roles during his career. His most recent post was as chief executive of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.
He has been volunteering with Wiltshire Search and Rescue since 2023. The charity supports emergency services by providing specialist search teams across Wiltshire.
Mr Todd is currently on sabbatical and is based in the South Atlantic. He is volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Sea Rescue Service on the island of St Helena.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue said it was proud to see one of its volunteers recognised at a national level.
A spokesperson said: “Congratulations to team member Ian Todd, who has been appointed a OBE for Public Service!
“Ian used to be a Paramedic, but his most recent role has been chief executive of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority.
“He has been volunteering with Wiltshire Search and Rescue since 2023, but is currently on sabbatical while he is in the South Atlantic, volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Sea Rescue Service on the island of St Helena!”
