A man who led police on a ‘dangerous’ chase through three counties after crashing into bins outside Wetherspoons has been jailed.
Seamus Ford, 22, was spotted in Brown Street in Salisbury on 30 October – after officers received reports of a collision involving bins nearby.
He failed to stop his blue Volkswagen Golf for police, leading officers on a pursuit lasting around forty five minutes across three counties.
During the chase he repeatedly drove on the wrong side of the road, carried out hazardous overtakes, turned off his headlights and played ‘chicken’ with oncoming vehicles.
The pursuit was brought to an end on the A338 near New Forest Water Park, Hampshire, where officers used a TPAC stop to contain the vehicle.
Ford, of The Quadrangle in Eastleigh, was sentenced at at Salisbury Crown Court on 27 November.
After admitting dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and possession of heroin and cannabis, he was jailed for fifteen months and banned from driving for nineteen months.
PC Pedliham, from Salisbury response, said: “Ford’s driving was some of the worst I’ve seen and could have resulted in numerous collisions.
“I’d like to thank the members of the public who reported Ford’s dangerous driving, allowing us to sight Ford and arrest him following a pursuit.
“His driving was extremely dangerous and showed no regard for his fellow drivers, and I’m pleased he has been jailed.”
