A man has been arrested hours after firearms cops locked down a street in Swindon.
Police were called to a domestic incident at an address in Whiteman Street, Gorse Hill, at around 6pm on Sunday evening (16 November).
Officers cordoned off the entire residential road as they attended a terraced house close to the junction with Florence Street.

Armed police carrying rifles were seen pointing their weapons at the property, as local residents were warned to stay indoors amid the drama.
After making entry, it’s understood the building was clear of the suspect. But firearms officers remained guarding the home overnight and into this afternoon (Monday).

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson did confirm that “although the suspect was not present, he has since attended Gablecross Police Station”, with an arrest made some hours later.
The 41-year-old is currently in custody, where he’s being held on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour, common assault, intentional strangulation and making threats to kill.

Wiltshire Police has refused to say why numerous firearms officers were required to watch over the property for so long while “further enquiries are taking place”.
The force also refused to provide more details about the victim; it’s not clear if any children were present during the incident.
An ambulance was also on scene – with a victim thought to have been treated by paramedics. Their condition is unknown as this time.
