A ‘dangerous’ Salisbury sex offender has been jailed over attacks on two women.
At trial, Cameron Mackay was convicted of assault by penetration, sexual assault, indecent exposure, actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
The first incident happened in around April 2022, whereby a woman in her forties had been invited to defendant’s address by a friend.
Mackay, of Rougemont Close, gave her alcohol and she later fell asleep. She awoke to find him sexually assaulting her.
The second offence took place in February 2023. A woman in her thirties met Mackay while he was walking his dog and accepted an invitation to return to his home.
Once inside, Mackay exposed himself. When the woman tried to leave, he assaulted her, pinned her down and strangled her with both hands. She managed to fight him off and escape.
Both victims reported the incidents in around June 2023. Wiltshire Police’s South CID carried out an investigation and Mackay was later charged.
The 37-year-old, who featured on 999: What’s Your Emergency? in 2017 for sending abusive messages to a teenage girl, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court for sentencing on Friday (14 November).
He was handed a 11 and a half year prison sentence and must register as a sex offender.
The defendant was previously jailed for sexually assaulting a paramedic and police officers.
Detective Constable Dan Smith, of South CID, said: “Mackay is a dangerous man who has committed serious offences which will no doubt have a long lasting impact on the victims.
“I would once again like to express my utmost thanks to the two victims in this case who have shown incredible bravery and strength in reporting their ordeal to police and having the courage to stand up in court and relive their stories.
“I recognise how difficult this can be to come forward and speak about these types of incidents and I hope this investigation shows that victims will always be listened to.
“I am pleased a lengthy custodial sentence has been given to Mackay – it reflects the serious nature of his offending.”
