Emergency services have provided updates on injuries after a van overturned in a crash on the A420 in Wiltshire.

999 crews raced to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the major route just west of Chippenham shortly after 7.10am this morning (Friday).

The incident happened at the crossroads with Biddestone Lane, near Yatton Keynell, and involved a Davis Groundworks-branded van and a grey Ford Kuga.

The van overturned onto its side, while the car left the road into the hedgerow. Two ambulances, an air ambulance team in a car, and two fire crews were sent alongside police.

Despite the dramatic scene, the occupants did not sustain any serious injuries and the damaged vehicles was cleared just before midday.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A420 near Biddestone this morning shortly before 7.10am.

“One car came to rest in bushes and one van was on its side when officers attended. Road signs were damaged during the collision.

“It’s not believed anyone was seriously injured. Vehicles were recovered by 11.40am and the road was opened.”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to the junction of the A420 and the B4039 for Lanhill at 7.15am today (7 November) following a road traffic collision involving a car and a van.

“Two crews from Chippenham attended; no-one was trapped, so the scene was made safe and our stop was at 7.57am.”

South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that no patients were conveyed to hospital.

A spokesperson added: “We were called at 07:12hrs on Friday 07 November to a road traffic collision in Chippenham. We sent one double-crewed land ambulances to the scene.”
