A motorcyclist has died after hitting a deer on a country road in Oxfordshire.
Emergency services were were called to the scene on the A4130 Port Hill, Nettlebed, near Henley-on-Thames, at around 4.50am on Monday (13 October).
Following a collision with a deer on an unlit route, a biker – a man aged in his 60s – was rushed to hospital with significant injuries.
Despite receiving treatment, he died on Thursday (16 October).
Thames Valley Police confirmed that a “deer ran into the road and was struck” by a Yamaha FJY 1300 as the rider travelled towards Wallingford.
Investigating officer PC Ruan Brink, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This was a very tragic incident whereby the motorcyclist has been involved in a collision with wildlife on an unlit section of the A4130.
“He was treated in hospital for his injuries, but very sadly died on Thursday.
“His next of kin are aware and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, and our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.
