Officers from Wiltshire Police have attended the grand opening of the newly refurbished Meadowcroft Pavilion youth centre in Swindon.

Neighbourhood officers were invited to the opening event and were shown around the facility, which has undergone an extensive renovation to transform it into a modern youth and community space.

PC Deller praised the investment made by the Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, saying the work being done to support young people would have a positive impact locally.

“The work that the parish has put into youth provision, alongside the efforts of the parish youth workers, really makes a difference,” PC Deller said.

“Giving young people somewhere to go is important and can help reduce antisocial behaviour in the community. We were delighted to be invited to the opening.”

PC Plaister also welcomed the new facility, describing it as something young people can look forward to using.

“This is a fantastic new facility, which is something that young people can look forward to utilise,” PC Plaister said.

Stratton St Margaret Parish Council confirmed it has invested £150,000 into the project, which will now serve as a dedicated base for the council’s youth provision.

The refurbished pavilion is intended to provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for young people and community groups.

A key feature of the redevelopment is a new sensory pod, designed to offer a calm and supportive space for young people who benefit from sensory regulation and quiet time.

During weekends, the pavilion will also be available for use by Stratton Junior Football Club, helping strengthen links between sport, youth development and the wider community.

The parish council said the project reflects a strong commitment to investing in young people and creating spaces that promote wellbeing, engagement and positive social interaction, with the grand opening marking an important milestone for collaboration between youth services, community partners and local sports organisations.
