A group of youths were detained after being spotted in a disused building in Chippenham.
Police were called to the location, a mothballed historic building in the railway station car park, at around 5.45pm today (2 November).
A dog unit was scrambled to the scene, with officers accessing The Weighbridge and handcuffing at least five youths for searches outside.
“Intruders in a building today decided it was not a good idea to hide from PD Dax”, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police Dogs said.
Adding: “They made a sensible decision to surrender once they heard him at the door!”
One of the suspects remarked “that dog was scary though bruv” to a friend – he proceeded to spit on the floor before shouting “nonce” multiple times.
After being searched and other checks were carried out, the youths were eventually allowed on their way. Some – including a teenage girl – were taken home in the police car.
At the height of the response, six police units were in attendance.
It’s not believed any arrests were made at the scene.
Whilst trespassing is not a criminal offence, Wiltshire Police are believed to be probing related offences – including criminal damage – in relation to this incident.
