A group of youths who damaged a Malmesbury play park have taken part in a litter pick.

Police identified those involved in the vandalism of St Aldhelm’s Mead and visited their homes to speak to them about their behaviour.

Malmesbury Town Council, which owns the park, agreed that a community resolution would be best to resolve the matter.

On speaking to the youths’ parents, a letter of apology was written to the council and those involved took part in a police-supervised litter-picking session in the rain.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said it was “a good learning opportunity to see what impact their actions have on the local community”.

Adding: “We are very lucky to have such lovely public parks and areas in Malmesbury and I am pleased I have the opportunity to be involved in policing it.”
