A young child has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a dog in Chippenham.
Wiltshire 999s understands the incident happened at John Coles Park, off Malmesbury Road, at around 10.10am this morning (25 September).
The dog, believed to be a springer spaniel, was reportedly tied to a fence at the time of the attack.
A witness told of how a small child “sustained injuries requiring medical attention”, and was taken to hospital immediately following the bite.
It’s claimed the dog’s owner was present after the attack, but his details were not obtained in the panic.
The owner of the dog involved is being encouraged to contact Wiltshire Police by calling 101 and quoting log number 99 of today’s date.
Anyone who witnessed the incident should also contact the force.
Earlier this year, the courts ordered a dog to be destroyed after four people – including two children – were injured in a 40-minute dog attack at John Coles Park.
We’ve approached Wiltshire Police for comment.
