A yellow weather warning is in place as snow falls across Wiltshire.
Overnight, the county has seen a sprinkling of the white stuff – with residents waking to a carpet of snow in many areas this morning (Tuesday).
The Met Office predicts road and railway delays – including on bus services. Icy surfaces are likely to cause some pedestrians to fall and suffer injuries.
In a statement, it said: “Icy stretches are expected to develop due to ongoing wet surfaces following earlier rain and, in places, snowmelt.
“Frequent sleet or snow showers are also expected to affect Wales and parts of northwest and southwest England moving into the Midlands and parts of southern England during the rest of the night.
“These are likely to produce snow accumulations of 2-4 cm in places, chiefly above 200 metres, but also possibly at low levels under heavier and more persistent shower bands over North Wales, northwest England and into the Peak District, where a few places above 300 m could see 5-10 cm of snow accumulating.”
