A young woman knocked down by a car on a zebra crossing in Chippenham claims she was left with a broken back following the collision – and remains in hospital.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision in Hungerdown Lane, between Sheldon Road and Ladyfield Road, at around 9.30am on Thursday (2 July).
A pedestrian, a woman aged in her 20s, was struck by a blue Ford Fiesta while using a zebra crossing. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

The casualty has since told Wiltshire 999s that she sustained a broken back, and remains in hospital recovering from spinal injuries. Police initially confirmed only minor injuries.
The road was closed in both directions for around one hour, reopening at around 10.30am.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called at 09:29hrs on Thursday 2 July to a road traffic collision in Chippenham.
“We sent a double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”
