A woman’s died after a lorry’s tyre burst while travelling along the A420 between Swindon and Oxford yesterday afternoon, causing a head-on collision.
A Scania Topline HGV was travelling along the road between the A338 Frilford Roundabout and the turn-off for Tubney at about 2.15pm, when it suffered a tyre blowout.
The driver lost control of the lorry and hit an oncoming white Mazda CX-5 car.

Investigating officer PC Robert Turpin, of the Roads Policing Unit based at Bicester, said: “This incident happened at a time when there would be have been many drivers using this major route.
“We are seeking witnesses who haven’t already provided their details to the police to come forward if they saw anything relevant to the collision.
“Our thoughts are with the family of the car driver who sadly died at the scene. They are being supported by specially trained officers.”
