A woman had died after a car hit a wall in a South Gloucestershire village.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Westerleigh, near Yate, at around 3am this morning (Tuesday).
Westerleigh Road was closed in both directions as 999 crews attended the incident – which involved a car colliding with a wall.
The driver – a woman aged in her 20s – sustained significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time. We will be offering them support from a specially-trained family liaison officer.
“The road is closed in both directions at the junctions with Nibley Lane, Besom Lane, Shorthill Road and the railway bridge and motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.
