A woman was impaled on a gate after ‘attempting to sneak into a nightclub’ in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to the serious medical incident at Tree in Hoopers Place, Old Town, shortly before 1am this morning (Sunday).
A casualty was found hanging upside down after impaling her leg on a spike protruding from a rear gate to the popular drinking establishment.
It’s thought the woman had been banned from the club previously and attempted to join the party through a back entrance.
Firefighters were forced to cut out a section of the gate to free the wounded female, who was being held up by several 999 personnel as they worked to rescue her.
Two ambulances and an ambulance officer were reportedly in attendance alongside a crew from Swindon Fire Station and several police units.
Police cordoned off the area whilst the incident was ongoing, but it reopened when the casualty was successfully freed and rushed to hospital.
The extent of her injury is unknown at this time. Wiltshire Police and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
