A woman has been rushed to hospital after her bicycle was crushed by a car in Swindon.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Croft Road, Old Town, at around 8.30am this morning (Wednesday).
The incident involved a black Mercedes and a bicycle on the junction for Springfield Road.
The cyclist – a woman in her 70s – was thrown to the ground on impact, smashing her helmet.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital. However, her injuries aren’t thought to be serious at this stage.
The road was closed in both directions for around one hour while ambulance crews attended, but it has since reopened.
Traffic was flowing past the scene at 10.30am, as the vehicles were recovered. The route is expected to be cleared by around 11.30am.
