An elderly woman has died following a road traffic collision in Malmesbury.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Blicks Hill junction on the A429 at around 10.15am yesterday morning (Tuesday, 7 November).
The woman, aged 81, was struck by a car and sustained serious injuries. At the time, her injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening.
In hospital, her condition deteriorated and she died overnight.
Wiltshire Police yesterday said the woman was aged in her 70s – but this appears to be an error.
The road was closed in both directions for approximately two hours and it does not appear a full forensic collision investigation as carried out.
A force spokesperson said: “Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
“Our enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
“Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam is asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 76 of yesterday’s date.
“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at [email protected].”
