A woman has died after an air ambulance was called to the canal towpath in Devizes.
Emergency services raced to the Kennet and Avon Canal at around 6.40pm yesterday (Thursday, 27 June) following reports of a serious medical incident.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance landed in a field off Webb’s Lane – and their critical care team attended the scene to provide urgent care.
Despite their best efforts, a woman aged in her 70s was pronounced dead.
The towpath, between Northgate Street and Prison Bridge, was taped off by police as 999 crews deal with the incident.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious” and added that a “file will be prepared for the coroner”.
