A woman chased by a man in Chippenham was rescued by a passing motorist.
The concerning incident happened in Ladyfield Road, near Hungerdown Lane, between midnight and 12.30am this morning (Friday).
The victim noticed the unknown man was following her and took a different route home. When he started to chase her, she attempted to flag down passing vehicles.
A motorist stopped to help, and agreed to take her home to safety. According to the Good Samaritan, the man fled as soon as he pulled over.
He said: ‘As soon as the man seen us pull over he ran towards the park by Derriads Green, then turned left by the garages to the housing estate off Queens Crescent.
‘It was a stranger. She said she lived up [redacted] but noticed he was following her so she took a different route… then the man started to chase her – that’s when she ran in the road flagging cars down.’
The victim described the man as being white, of medium build, and possibly aged in his 40s. He was wearing dark clothing at the time.
Wiltshire Police want to hear from anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously between 12am and 12.30am. Locals could also check their CCTV and video doorbells for anything out of the ordinary.
