A woman was attacked during a burglary – as four people ransacked her home.
The group broke into a house in Weirside shortly after 8pm yesterday (Monday 16 October), searching several bedrooms and then fleeing with cash.
During the incident, a woman at the address was assaulted. She didn’t sustain any serious injuries but was left very shaken.
The vehicle used by the offenders was spotted travelling at high speed along Perry’s Lane.
Wiltshire Police is linking the incident with another burglary reported at an address in Biddestone Avenue, in Badbury Park, Swindon, approximately 20 minutes earlier.
There a door at the address was smashed – it is unknown at this time whether anything has been stolen from inside the property.
DI Darren Ambrose from the Burglary Unit said: “Incidents of this nature are extremely upsetting and frightening for those involved – we completely understand the trauma that burglary can cause to victims which is why we are totally committed to identifying those responsible.
“Our team of officers on the Burglary Unit are today continuing with their extensive enquiries and have identified a number of further lines of enquiry which they will be pursuing over the coming days.”
