A woman has been arrested after crashing her car into undergrowth on the A361.

Emergency services rushed to reports of the single-vehicle road traffic collision near Highworth at 9.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 29 March).

Two fire engines from Stratton (Swindon) were sent to the scene after they were told that a casualty was trapped inside, whilst another had managed to self-extricate.

Firefighters used small tools to remove “cut back heavy bushes surrounding the vehicle to assist a second casualty out”, a spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Wiltshire Police arrested the woman driver, aged in her 40s, on suspicion of drink driving.

Miraculously, nobody was injured in the dramatic crash.

UPDATE: Wiltshire Police say the woman has since been released with no further action.
