A woman was airlifted to hospital after a body was discovered in a Wiltshire village home.
Police were called to White Street, Market Lavington, after concerns were raised about the welfare of an elderly woman inside an address at about 12.25pm today (Monday).
The woman, aged in her 90s, was pronounced dead at the scene – whilst a second woman, aged in her 50s, suffered a cardiac arrest.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended the incident, later airlifting the patient to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown at this time.
There is a large police presence at the scene this evening – with forensics working inside a house whilst is it watched over by two community support officers.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said the woman’s death is being treated as “unexplained”. Detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances.
In an earlier statement, the force wrote: “We have set up a scene in White Street, Market Lavington, following a sudden death inside a property.
“We were contacted at around 12.25pm today (31/07) following a report concerning the welfare of a woman in her 90s. Sadly, upon our arrival, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
“Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and we are carrying out enquiries to understand more about the circumstances.
“Our investigation is at a very early stage, but there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.
“A second woman, aged in her 50s, has been taken to hospital following a medical episode.”
