A woman’s been airlifted to hospital following an incident in Swindon today (Saturday).
Emergency services were called to Westfield Way, near Orbital Shopping Park, at around 2.30pm following reports of a serious medical emergency.
Police closed the road as several ambulance crews provided urgent treatment on a woman, who is understood to have suffered a cardiac arrest.
Critical care medics from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were also tasked – with the yellow and green helicopter landing on a patch of grass nearby.
CPR was performed at the scene before the casualty was stabilised and airlifted to Bristol Royal Infirmary for further care.
Speculation on social media suggested that the woman was injured in a road traffic collision – but police have confirmed it was a medical incident.
The road closure was lifted shortly after the air ambulance lifted, at about 4.15pm.
