A Wiltshire woman has been arrested after ‘driving the wrong way along a motorway’.
The 79-year-old, from Wilton, was apprehended by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constbaulary at home following the incident on Tuesday (29 October).
Officers responded to reports of a silver Honda Accord driving the wrong way along the eastbound carriageway of the M27 between junctions 1 and 2 at around 7.40pm.
The vehicle – which had its hazard lights activated – continued on the wrong side of the road onto the A31 travelling through the New Forest, before leaving the dual carriageway.

She has been bailed until 29 January 2025, while further enquiries are carried out.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a vehicle drove the wrong way on the M27.
