Wiltshire Police have smashed through the wrong door in a raid gone wrong in Swindon.
Officers were supposed to execute a warrant in Baileys Farm Gardens, Walcot, on 10 July – but instead forced entry into a home in Baileys Farmhouse.
The properties are around 200 metres apart, but have very similar names. The force has apologised to the innocent owner of the wrong property.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “While conducting enquiries to locate an outstanding suspect, officers forced entry to a property in the Walcot area of Swindon.
“We quickly established this was the wrong address.
“We have apologised to the property owner and are working with them to rectify the situation.
“Officers subsequently attended the correct address, and our enquiries are ongoing.”
