Police have warned they will issue fines to groups of people playing in the snow.

At around 12.30pm, officers responded to reports of around 150 children and 50 adults gathering illegally – breaching the coronavirus lockdown laws.

Concerns were raised over the large group in the Severfields area of Penhill. A significant number of those involved were said not to be social distancing or wearing masks.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please do not gather in large groups – you are reminded that Fixed Penalty Notices may be issued to those who do not abide by the regulations.

“We are in the midst of a pandemic and failing to socially distance and wear facemasks could aid the spread of the virus.”
