Timothy Bossard, 42, attacked his then-partner in late 2025, leaving her traumatised.

The defendant, of Dennis Lane, Ludwell, was previously found guilty of intentional suffocation at Winchester Crown Court – where he returned for sentencing on 11 June.

Wiltshire Police said that Bossard suffocated his victim by holding a pillow over her face until she struggled to breathe. The pair were in a relationship at the time.

In a victim impact statement read in court, the victim said: “I am now fully engaged in therapy and hope that, over time, I will be able to heal. However, at present, I feel that I have lost my sense of who I am.

“I have gone from being someone who supports others and helps them with their lives, to being someone who now needs help themselves.

“This change has been deeply painful and disorientating. His actions have caused lasting and life-changing damage that I continue to live with every day.”

He was sentenced for 21 months imprisonment and prohibited from contacting the woman directly or indirectly for two years by way of a restraining order.

Local crime investigator Catherine Barrett said: “Bossard’s actions left his victim living in constant fear of what he might do next.

“We take reports of this type of behaviour extremely seriously. It has a devastating and lasting impact on victims and their families.

“No one should ever feel unsafe in their own home, and we are committed to ensuring that perpetrators like Bossard are held fully accountable for the harm they cause.

“I’d like to commend the victim for her courage in coming forward and supporting this investigation. Her strength has ensured that Bossard can no longer pose a threat to her.

“We will continue to pursue offenders, protect victims, and work tirelessly to prevent this kind of abuse in our communities.”
