Wiltshire firefighters called to assist Somerset crews at landfill site blaze

Firefighters from across Wiltshire and Dorset have rushed across the border to fight a major blaze at a landfill site in Somerset.

Emergency crews responded to the fire at Dimmer Landfill in Castle Cary at around 4.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday 28 August and remain on scene today.

Residents in the area have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
