A father was killed in a collision with a van whilst ‘walking home from a night out’.
31-year-old Shane Allan Simmonds, of Larkhill, was struck on the A345 Countess Road, near Woodhenge, shortly after midnight on 13 November.
Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner’s Court heard that the construction worker was walking in the carriageway when he was involved in a collision with a white Ford van.
A paramedic pronounced him dead at the scene at 12.51am. The inquest heard his cause of death was “multiple traumatic injuries”.
Wiltshire 999s understands Mr Simmonds had been enjoying a night out with his partner prior to the collision, which happened when he walked home alone.
The van driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified following the fatal incident. He was released on bail whilst investigations continue.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed in 2023.
