Detectives in Swindon are appealing for the driver of a silver Skoda estate which traveled through Old Town at around 6am on Sunday morning – when a man was stabbed.

The 36-year-old man was taken to the Great Western Hospital with head and back injuries following the serious assault in the Godwin Court area. He’s since been released from hospital.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “As part of our on going enquiries, we would like to speak to the occupants of a light coloured Skoda estate seen driving past the scene around 6am on the Sunday. We believe they could be important witnesses in this case.”

CCTV STILL OF THE CAR THAT PASSED THE SCENE

Detective Inspector Helen Jacobs said: “We would like to speak to those travelling in this vehicle at this time. I want to reassure them that in no way do we think they are involved in the assault. If that’s you or if you recognise the car – please come forward.

“We’re also appealing for anyone who may have passed by and seen the assault or anything suspicious, before or after the incident, to come forward to help with our investigation.

“We are pleased to say that the victim has now been released from hospital and is making a good recovery.”

Our enquiries are continuing and anyone with information on this incident is asked to call us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
