Visitors to Cirencester Park are being urged to take extra care amid hot weather after a fire broke out on farmland nearby.
The Bathurst Estate, a 3000-acre historic parkland, issued a fire safety warning following the incident on Wednesday (12 August).
Its farms team assisted Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service as firefighters tackled and successfully extinguished the blaze.
The estate warned that even a small spark could have serious consequences for the countryside, wildlife and open spaces during the current high temperatures.
Visitors have been asked not to light fires, barbecues or disposable grills anywhere within Cirencester Park.
Smoking is also prohibited, while people are being urged to take litter home or use bins provided.
Anyone who spots signs of fire or smoke should report it to the emergency services immediately.
A spokesperson for Cirencester Park said: “As temperatures remain high, we would like to remind visitors that even a small spark can have serious consequences for our countryside, wildlife,and open spaces.
“Yesterday’s field farm near Cirencester was a stark reminder of this. Our Farms Team were pleased to be able to assist Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service as they successfully fought and extinguished the outbreak.”
