A vehicle went up in flames this morning, after crashing down an embankment.

Emergency services were called reports of a car on fire on the M4 motorway – between junction 16 and 17 westbound – at around 10.45am today, 7 February.

Two people were injured, but they had self extracted themselves from the wreckage before Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived on scene.

Fire crews from Westlea and Swindon fire stations attended the incident and firefighters administered oxygen to one adult female while they made the scene safe.

Two adult casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance.
