A large van has disappeared after striking a Swindon railway bridge tonight.

The white Luton-style van, which had three occupants according to witnesses, crashed into the Whitehouse Bridge on Corporation Street near the train station at 6.45pm.

Police officers and Network Rail assessed the damaged bridge

Police officers were immediately called to the scene but found only smashed plastic and glass scattered across the road. Other police units were sent in search of the mystery van.
