A van driver has been arrested after a cyclist was killed in a Wiltshire crash.
Emergency services responded to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A4 near Avebury at around 7.55pm on Sunday evening (21 April).
The incident involved a RevoLOOtion-branded Peugeot Boxer van and a cyclist close to The Gallops lay-by.
The cyclist, a man aged in his 30s, sustained signifiant injuries and despite the best efforts of medics, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.
The driver of the van, a man aged in his 60s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He was taken to custody for questioning and has since been released under investigation.
A forensic collision investigation has been underway overnight, and remains ongoing.
The A4 is closed between Beckhampton Roundabout and Cherhill this morning (Monday). It’s expected to remain closed until around 10am.
