A driver was pulled from a wrecked car unconscious after a crash in Melksham.
Emergency services were called to Farmers Roundabout following a road traffic collision shortly before 2pm on Wednesday (11 December).
A blue Volkswagen left the carriageway, sustaining significant front offside damage. It’s not clear what the vehicle impacted to cause the damage.
A member of the public reportedly stopped to help, pulling the driver – a young man from the Devizes area – from the wreckage.
According to a post on social media, he was “unconscious and struggling for breath”. He was placed into the recovery position ahead of 999 crews’ arrival.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that the driver was taken to hospital for treatment. However, his injuries are not said to be life-threatening and he’s expected to recover.
Two ambulances, an ambulance officer and several police vehicles were in attendance – with the roundabout partially blocked while the incident was dealt with.
There were significant traffic delays in the area until the scene was clear around one hour later.
It’s not known was caused the collision at this stage, but the car was fitted with a spare ‘space saver’ tyre.
