Two police officers were taken to hospital after their car crashed near Chippenham.
The marked police car was travelling along the A4 on Chequers Hill when it collided with a large road sign and came to rest in a ditch at just before 5am this morning.
Officers were not responding to an emergency call at the time of the incident, they were carrying out general patrols in the North Wiltshire area.
The officers were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath but suffered only minor injuries.
A spokesperson Wiltshire Police said: “Shortly before 5am this morning (01/07) a marked police car was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the A4 near Chippenham.
“Two on-duty police officers were in the vehicle and were taken to the Royal United Hospital to be assessed as a precaution. Thankfully, they were not seriously injured.”
Six police vehicles and two ambulances were at the scene following the collision.
